From the 1st October 2020, Octagon Medical Practice will be going through organisational changes. This page will provide updates of the changes that have, and will occur. Patient care remains Octagon's top priority, so if you have any questions or concerns, please get in contact with your GP surgery.

Update on proposed changes to practice membership at Octagon Medical Practice - December 2020

Octagon Medical Group was formed to bring smaller practices together. However, not all the benefits of working at a larger scale have been realised, and there have been additional challenges around bringing together different ways of managing the practices and different ways of working for different communities. The Partners at Octagon agree that smaller groups of practices working together, with similar local communities or geographies, would still bring benefits to patients, while supporting practices with workforce challenges.

New practice groupings have been proposed by the Partners, which have been submitted to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England & NHS Improvement for consideration.

The proposed groupings are:

  • Thomas Walker Medical Centre (includes the former Huntley Grove Practice and Minster Medical Practice) and Westgate Surgery

  • Thorney and Eye Medical Practice and Jenner Health Centre

  • Bretton Medical Practice

  • Park Medical Centre

  • Hodgson Medical Centre and Nene Valley Medical Centre

Please rest assured that none of the surgery sites will close as part of this process and patients will continue to have access to the services they do currently.

The Partners at Octagon are keen to keep patients informed of the current discussions and to listen to feedback from their patients as part of this process.

* Since October 2020 some practices have already withdrawn from the shared management arrangements (Clarkson Surgery, Cornerstone Practice, Great Staughton Surgery, Hampton Health, Mercheford House Surgery, Papworth Surgery, Priory Fields Practice, and Trinity Surgery).  They will continue as independent GP practices, with no changes to how patients receive care.
