You may have seen a post on Facebook suggesting that Thorney Medical Centre is to be closed. We would like to reassure you that this is not the case. The information given by the Doctor to the OP has been either misunderstood or misrepresented. These comments are not helpful and we should remember that scare stories like this may have an impact on elderly and infirm patients who will worry unnecessarily on the closure rumours.
We have some clinical staff shortages at the present time which has made it difficult to cover both sites therefore the difficult decision to close Thorney on some occasions was taken to ensure that we can operate safely. Octagon have provided as much extra clinical cover as possible however locum GP’s are difficult to get at the present time, this is a national problem and is not unique to our area.
Octagon are actively recruiting for more Doctors and Nurses. Please bear with us during this difficult time, the staff are doing the very best they can to help and assist our patients.
